Upper Key Stage 2: news reports, persuasive speeches and poppy sketches

Upper Key Stage 2 have been writing newspaper reports and persuasive speeches, investigating heart rate and sketching remembrance poppies.
Upper Key Stage 2 have been busy with some exciting learning.
Redwood Class have been learning the features of a newspaper report and have started writing their own reports about King Duncan's murder in Macbeth. In Science, they learned how blood moves around the body and explored how exercise affects heart rate. They have also started learning about negative numbers, explored the hierarchy of Anglo-Saxon society and planned their own news report videos in Computing.
Spruce Class have drafted, edited and published persuasive speeches linked to their World War One topic, using rhetorical questions, emotive language and repetition. The finished speeches are excellent. In Art, they explored how artists create depth, emotion and movement, taking inspiration from Charlie Mackesy to create expressive World War One drawings.
Willow Class have been getting to grips with newspaper reports, including the passive voice, and learning tips for multiplication and division using factor pairs and divisibility rules. In History, they found out about evacuation in World War Two and thought about what they would pack in their suitcase. Interestingly, many didn't pack a toothbrush! In Art, they have been sketching the remembrance poppy, ready to make prints.
