Key Stage 1: stories, sun catchers and number bonds

A garden scene painted with primary and secondary colours

Key Stage 1 have been writing their own stories, making sun catchers, mixing tints and shades and exploring number bonds.

Key Stage 1 have been busy learning, creating and having fun over the past two weeks.

Cherry and Elm classes have been inspired by Mrs Armitage and the Big Wave, using its patterned and repeated language to write their own stories, with plenty of adjectives to make them interesting. In Maths, they have been using part-whole models to explore number bonds to 10 and to split teen numbers in different ways, writing addition and subtraction sentences to match.

Cherry Class continued their RE learning about the importance of light in different religions by creating colourful sun catcher collages. In Art, both classes have kept up their colour mixing. Cherry Class experimented with adding white and black to make tints and shades, and Elm Class painted garden scenes using primary and secondary colours. Cherry Class have also been developing their gymnastics and ball skills in PE.

In Year 2, Hazel Class have written their own trickster tales based on Stan and the Dragon, thinking carefully about vocabulary and spelling, and have been learning to find the difference using subtraction.
