Lower Key Stage 2: mummies, circuits and a world record attempt

Lower Key Stage 2 have been writing instructions for mummification, testing conductors and taking part in a Guinness World Records reading attempt.

There has been lots going on in Lower Key Stage 2.

Maple Class have been learning how to ask someone's name and reply confidently in Spanish. In Science, they investigated which materials are electrical conductors and insulators, and in Art they completed their Ancient Egyptian scripts, using symbols to tell stories about themselves. In English, they wrote instructions for how to mummify a body, just like the Ancient Egyptians, using imperative verbs and time conjunctions.

Oak Class have been practising calming strategies in their Happy Minds sessions, neatly writing up their Paddington stories, tackling addition and subtraction with exchanges and drawing detailed buses and buildings in Art.

Poplar Class tested objects in a circuit to see whether they were conductors or insulators, learned about Bar and Bat Mitzvahs in RE, and started adding and subtracting 4-digit numbers. They also took part in a Guinness World Records attempt for the most people reading online in 12 hours. They had to read silently for 10 minutes, but they all wanted to carry on afterwards!
