Updated school policies, including our new Allergy policy

Governors have approved five updated policies, including a new Allergy policy written in response to Benedict's Law.

Governors approved several updated policies on Thursday 17 September, and they are now available on our School Policies page:

  • Child Protection policy
  • Harmful Sexual Behaviours policy
  • Attendance policy
  • Allergy policy
  • Mobile Phone policy

Our new Allergy policy has been written in response to Benedict's Law, which introduces new allergy safety requirements for schools in England from September 2026. It is named after Benedict Blythe, a 5-year-old who died from anaphylaxis at school in 2021 after mistakenly being given cow's milk, to which he was known to be allergic. The law brings in a series of measures designed to improve allergy safety in schools.

All staff at The Flitch Green Academy have completed allergy awareness training this month, and we are due to receive our stock of auto-injector pens soon.
