Our Reception classes, Apple and Beech, have had a wonderful first full week at The Flitch Green Academy. The children are settling happily into our daily routines and making lots of new friends.

In Phonics, they explored the sounds s, a, t and p and practised forming the letters, using sand, magnetic boards and pencils to build their early writing skills. In Maths, they began subitising, which means recognising small groups of objects without counting.

In PSHE, the children talked about kindness, gentle hands and respecting others. In Understanding the World, they explored families and growing up, thinking about the past, present and future. They also enjoyed experimenting with mark making using wax crayons in Art.

We can't wait to see what the rest of the term brings!
