Upper Key Stage 2: Macbeth, Anglo-Saxons and the World Wars

Redwood, Spruce and Willow classes have been writing Macbeth-inspired poetry, investigating Anglo-Saxon grave goods and learning about both World Wars.
Upper Key Stage 2 have hit the ground running this term.
In Redwood Class, the children have been inspired by Macbeth, writing their own poems based on its atmosphere, characters and language. In PSHE, they have been thinking about the qualities, interests and experiences that make each of us unique. They also began their new history topic on Anglo-Saxon Britain, investigating Anglo-Saxon grave goods and using these artefacts to make deductions about the lives, beliefs and jobs of people at the time.
Spruce Class have been writing letters from the perspective of a young British soldier during the First World War, and they have shown great enthusiasm for the topic. In Science, they started a new unit on the circulatory system, learning about the role of the heart and labelling a diagram of its different parts.
Willow Class have produced some excellent descriptive writing inspired by the short film The Piano, and are thoroughly enjoying their World War Two history topic. Their curiosity has led to lots of fantastic questions! They have also met their Reception buddies and shown great maturity in helping them learn the rules and routines of school life.
