Having a Child Protection Policy in place ensures that all members of the school community:

  • Are aware of their responsibility in relation to safeguarding and child protection

  • Know the procedures that should be followed if they have a cause for concern

  • Know where to go to find additional information regarding safeguarding

  • Are aware of the key indicators relating to child abuse

  • Fully support the academy's commitment to safeguarding and child protection

Sometimes we may need to share information and work in partnership with other agencies when there are concerns about a child or young person's welfare. We will ensure that our concerns about our pupils are discussed with parents/carers first unless we have reason to believe that such a move would be contrary to the child or young person's welfare.

If you have any concerns about a child or young person's welfare, please record your concern and report this to one of the academy's safeguarding team as soon as possible on the same day. It is important that you do not conduct your own investigation.

If your concerns relate to the behaviour or actions of a member of staff, then you should report this directly to the Safeguarding Link Governor.

Special Educational Needs and/or Disabilities

At the Flitch Green Academy we endeavour to ensure that every child who joins us can do their very best. To support this we have introduced numerous intervention groups ranging from Units of Sound, Boxercise, Lego Therapy, drop in games sessions and practical sessions with our Caretaker!

Our sensory room also provides a safe space for those children who need some time out from every day activities.

Our SENDCo is Emma North

Emma can be contacted via the school office on 01371 822330 or via emma.north@flitchgreen.net
